PUBLIC MANAGEMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY: FOREIGN EXPERIENCE

The article analyzes foreign practices of public management of ensuring public safety. It is justified that ensuring public safety is aimed at achieving a number of tasks: ensuring personal safety; promoting the welfare of the community; economic prosperity; strengthening of social cohesion. It is emphasized that understanding the importance of public safety is paramount to creating safe and sustainable communities. The author supports the opinion that law enforcement agencies play a crucial role in ensuring public safety and maintaining the well-being of communities, which involves building trust, strengthening community relations, and promoting a sense of security among citizens. Areas of activity of law enforcement agencies in communities have been defined: crime prevention and deterrence; emergency response; traffic control and safety; building relations with the community; specialized units and resources focused on specific areas of public safety, such as drugs, cybercrime or domestic violence, that increase the overall effectiveness of law enforcement in ensuring public safety by addressing specific issues that may arise in the community. Effective public safety has been proven to require cooperation between law enforcement and the community, as trust and cooperation are essential to creating a safe and secure environment for all. Building trust and cooperation between communities and law enforcement agencies is a critical aspect of ensuring public safety and strengthening communities together. The author presents this process in the form of a certain algorithm: understanding the perspectives of both communities and law enforcement agencies, police interaction with the community – a strategy aimed at strengthening trust and cooperation between law enforcement agencies and communities, transparency and accountability, training and education. Cooperation between government and society strengthens communities, develops a culture of safety and is a tool for creating a safe public space.
