Abstract

Article purpose – the development, solution and analysis of a mathematical model of the movement of a wheel along a rail in the presence of an intermediate medium in the contact zone. To determine the wheel rolling characteristics along the rail in the presence of an intermediate medium in the acceleration and deceleration modes, the equations of motion of a viscous incompressible fluid are solved. The satisfaction of the boundary conditions was carried out by the method of weighted residuals in the form of pointwise collocation. Based on the calculations and analysis carried out, it was found that in the presence of an intermediate medium in acceleration and deceleration modes, the relative slip affects the coefficient of adhesion of wheels to rails in different ways. The calculation results are in good agreement with the experimental data.
